Anxiety… Hypnotherapy
Anxiety – a response that refers to the anticipation of an event that is unclear in one’s mind. There are various degrees of anxiety:
- Excessive – experiencing feelings that are difficult to control, distressed to the point of being unable to function normally; worrying continually.
- Anxious about a forthcoming event/s, such as public speaking; school/business exams; auditions; interviews; driving test – a constant nagging worry that invades sleep and causes feelings of unease. (2)
- Anxiety felt at place of work or at home; at school, college; in somebody’s presence – a constant feeling of tension or stress, that only clears when removed from the situation. (3)
Other physical symptoms may include:
- Restlessness, irritability.
- Muscle tension, physical fatigue, and disturbed sleep patterns.
- Difficulty in concentrating.
(2) Clinical hypnosis will allow a person to feel more relaxed about any forthcoming event – to establish a feeling of calm and an ability to be ‘in control’. There are various techniques depending on the specific needs of the client.
(3) Hypnotherapy is a means of dealing with the person’s attitude towards the anxiety. Releasing any negative beliefs and allows the person to gain a sense of empowerment.
Children can benefit from hypnosis too.
Bullying is still a fact of life in schools. Once a child believes that they have the inner strength and confidence to deal with the bully, it changes the whole relationship.
